List of Cricket Fielding Positions

Here is a comprehensive list of cricket fielding positions. There are only eleven fielding players on the field at a time, but they can be placed anywhere by the captain. The fielding positions can be adjusted based on the bowler's strategy, the batsman's strengths, and the match conditions, creating a dynamic and tactical aspect to cricket.

To help understand the decscriptions of field placements, the field is divided into two sides relative to the batsman. The Off Side is the side of the field in front of the batsman when they are facing the bowler. For a right-handed batsman, this is their left side. It includes positions like cover, point, and slips. The Leg Side (also called the On Side) is the side of the field behind the batsman when they are facing the bowler. For a right-handed batsman, this is their right side. It includes positions like square leg, midwicket, and fine leg.

There are more positions than are listed, although these are the most commonly used. Precisely where the players will stand during the game may vary, the description is a guide only.
